I downloaded both the cups and HL1440 drive but have no idea which one to install nor how to install it. Somewhere in drilling down to them in the link you provided I ran to several statements saying, "follow the instructions to install." Except I never came across the instructions so I guess I still need help. Thanks again.

It is fairly straight forward for cups start by opening a browser and type in for the URL something like: http://127.0.0.1:631 Also follow 'Linux driver page' link in the URL I provided earlier; Quoting: Brother publishes proprietary Linux drivers for CUPS and LPD for most of their laser printers and multi-function devices, including SANE drivers for the scanners. They can be downloaded free of charge on their Linux driver page. -- Contained within the Microsoft EULA; This Limited Warranty is void if failure of the Product has resulted from accident, abuse, misapplication, abnormal use or a virus.

Very disappointing. I've contacted Brother support buy yet to hear from them. |
