Exchange SP2, WM 5.0. All working except for error message when connected to
PC by USB.

PDA connects to PC and synchronises with both PC and Server. WiFi connects
OK and synchronises. Remote access via VPN connects OK and synchronises.

When connected to PC via USB cradle, get the following message:

"Pocket PC Networking
Unable to obtain a server-assigned IP address. Try again later or enter an
IP address in Network settings"

The VPN connection uses DHCP but nothing else should.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Stuart

Hi,
ActiveSync 4.x uses the RNDIS interface for USB sync. The PC is assigned an
IP address from the Pocket PC. The IP address is 169.254.2.1 for the Pocket
PC and 169.254.2.2 for the PC.

Check to see that the RNDIS interface is coming up when you start to sync
via USB.

Thanks Chris

I get a successful connection through USB with the PC and the IP address
given to the PC is 169.254.2.2 smf yjr PDA is showing the Remote-NDIS Host as
169.254.2.1 but is saying it is a sever assigned address. Should this really
be a static address? And if so, what would be the Default Gateway - the
exchange server?
