Hi,

I have been noticing these messages in my sendmail log:

Nov 9 08:24:29 mercury sendmail[25643]: jA9DOQV25643: collect:
premature EOM: Error 0
Nov 9 08:24:29 mercury sendmail[25643]: jA9DOQV25643: collect:
unexpected close on connection from YahooBB220031048023.bbtec.net,
sender=<abc(a)xyz.com>: Error 0

I get these messages even when some genuine senders are sending mails.
Sometimes their mails come through without any issues eventhough they
have many attachments and sometimes they are not recieved and i get
these messages.

I have performed changes to the sendmail by changing the MTU and
allowing the ICMP as mentioned in the FAQ, but i still get these
messages. I have also checked for network issues at my end and did not
notice any problems.

I have requested a sender who was having problems sending emails to my
sendmail to send an email to gmail. i then forwarded the same message
from gmail to my sendmail server and i did not encounter any issues.

When the sender is able to send the same email to gmail why is my
sendmail showing the'premature EOM" message.

Hope someone can throw some light on this.
