You made the same in comp.sys.mac.applications, but not eaven crossposted, just a clone: <earle.jones-14DB54.17325513072008(a)netnews.comcast.net> So If Usenet II's goals are lowering the hassles..... why would you go there? You'd probably be the first to get banned there. I mean Usenet II prohibits extensive crossposting. But cloneposting, this is eaven worse. Regards Casper

The post was also off-topic in both groups but curiosity got the better of me and I consulted Wikipedia, from which: There are a number of Usenet II hosts still operating, but traffic is largely limited to FAQ postings. The effort to extend Usenet II was abandoned as technical means to fight spam and other abuse on traditional Usenet became more effective and spammers migrated from Usenet to email. As you were told there, Usenet II never really took off. -- Barry Margolin, barmar(a)alum.mit.edu Arlington, MA *** PLEASE post questions in newsgroups, not directly to me *** *** PLEASE don't copy me on replies, I'll read them in the group ***
