If you don't know what PUFL is then it probably isn't worth you
reading further.

A few people on other forums have reported success in upgrading their
PUFL phones in-store, many for free phones. Allegedly there is no
change to the 'contract'.

I haven't been brave enough to try it with mine yet.

Yes, I googled, boggled and found that too - was wondering what on earth
PUFL (=pay upfront for life) stood for.

It depends on the store.

I've upgraded twice in 11 months. I got a K800i last time and a very
thin Samsung this year. My daughter has just got a Samsung with a 3M
camera.

In other o2 stores, I've been told that no upgrade is allowed on PUFFL.
