From: Izod on 20 Jun 2008 10:03 I'm not sure I'm at the right place here, so direct me if I'm not. I downloaded Visual Web Developer 2005 Express and 2008 Express. But I can't get them installed. It seems right at the very end everything goes bananas. Halts and goes into the panic mode by Disk Checking. I have to power off and reboot, then it wants to do a check disk. It did say something about compatible hardware? Both versions did the same thing. I have XP Pro 2. It creates the directory and looks like a lot of files are there but at the very end of the installation is when it goes nuts. Any Idea's. I'm going to try it on vista this afternoon. Izod
From: mayayana on 20 Jun 2008 19:09 You never explained in your last post what you were trying to accomplish. You still haven't in this post. But it sounds like you want an ASP.Net group. This is a VBScript group. VBScript *can* be used in ASP.Net but it's not the same thing.
From: Izod on 20 Jun 2008 22:18 I'm sorry I thought I had.... I want to learn ASP/ C#. The instructional's with Microsoft talk about using Visual Web Development 2005 Express. I down loaded them and could never get them to install. I'm sorry I'm in the wrong group. Thanks for the come back. -- Izod "mayayana" <mayaXXyana1a(a)mindXXspring.com> wrote in message news:%23Gp$Nqy0IHA.800(a)TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > You never explained in your last post what you > were trying to accomplish. From: mayayana on 21 Jun 2008 08:54 I didn't mean for my response to sound critical. It's just that I get the sense that you don't know the landscape. When you asked what scripting language to use that was like asking, "Should I use a frying pan or saucepan?" Well, it depends on what you want to cook. :) No one can really give a helpful answer if they don't know what you're using the tool for. Then you decided to use ASP, which isn't a scripting language. And C# is something altogether different. C# is one of the .Net languages. .Net is Microsoft's Java knockoff, mainly for writing server-side, JIT-compiled software. (A typical usage might be a database component on a large, corporate websire.) If you just got a job doing web design on a Windows server that uses ASP.Net then your choices might be good ones. If not, then your choices might not be what you need. Personally I would never use any MS products for website-related work. As soon as you start you're faced with MS/IE lock-in. (Thus, most professional web designers who can't code will use Dreamweaver, not FrontPage AKA Expressions Studio.) I've never heard of VWD, but it appears to be for ASP.Net. (ASP.Net is the successor to ASP.) If that's where you're headed then maybe this group will help: microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.aspnet There may also be others. Any group with "dotnet" in the name deals with .Net. If you really want ASP, and not ASP.Net, then you're talking about server-side scripting on an MS server. In that case you may not be able to use VWD. > I'm sorry I thought I had.... I want to learn ASP/ C#. The > instructional's with Microsoft > talk about using Visual Web Development 2005 Express. You hit the nail on the head. I do not know what I am talking about. I didn't take your response critical. I'm searching. I'm just doing a few web sites and I want to get a little more interactive. You have shed a lot of light and I for one appreciate that. I also appreciate you being there for us. You'll see me pop up from time to time with stupid questions. I have one now. I would like to automatically respond to certain email I receive with a forwarding to information in the email itself. I have no idea where to start looking, or even if it's possible. Thanks for your patience.... --Izod "mayayana" <mayaXXyana1a(a)mindXXspring.com> wrote in message news:%23dGOS350IHA.1484(a)TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > I didn't mean for my response to sound critical. > It's just that I get the sense that you don't know the > landscape.
