From: dawes4000 on 12 Oct 2006 19:20 I have read that memory becomes an issue when indexing DB tables. Not so much of an issue when indexing directories full of documents such as PDF.
From: David Aden on 13 Oct 2006 13:21 It may be that documents don't cause this problem -- that makes sense because I'm guessing that more people use it for docs than for DB entries. If everyone using Verity was hitting this problem, it probably would have been solved by now. We're still in the position of having to Verity off so our servers don't crash which leaves us without search capability. At one point I looked into producing a test case that Adobe could look at to replicate the problem but wasn't able to get it done due to simply to resources at the time. But, if there is someone out there who could send some code and database or whatever is needed for them to replicate the problem, perhaps we'd be in a better position to insist Adobe gets it fixed. In their defense, it is hard to debug something you can't see so if there is anyone who could send them a set-up that will replicate it, it would give us a bit more leverage to push for a solution.
