You may want to ask this kind of questions on the users list
users(a)openoffice.org.

The only workaround I can think of to center the text in a page is to
insert a frame and center the frame on the page.
Create a frame as wide as the page margins, then select Center |
relative to entire page both for horizontal and vertical alignment.
