From: David Q on 4 Jul 2008 09:36 Howdy, I am working on a syllabus for a Business Communication Class that I am teaching and I want to have a vertical line at the far left. I want the line to begin horizontal and then curve vertical and go straight for a few lines then curve horizontal again. Then I want to type on this line. It is basically informing students that 1-5 topics on the syllabus is under an umbrella topic that would be vertically typed. I dont know how to do this in word. I appreciate any help I can get, thanks!
From: Suzanne S. Barnhill on 4 Jul 2008 10:11 I'd suggest you experiment with a table, applying borders to cells selectively 9and merging them as needed) and using the Text Direction command to create vertical text as required. -- Suzanne S. I appreciate any help I can get, thanks! There's nothing in Word that works exactly like that. Type the text where you want it, and use the tools from the Drawing toolbar to draw the lines afterward. To write text at 90 degrees to the regular text, put it into a text box or a table cell and use the Text Direction command on the right-click menu. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit.
