I usually do back them up to the laptop with Logomanager, but haven't done
so recently, my own fault. Oh well you live and learn (usually the hard
way..!)

The second CSR was correct, the first one was not. You will have to wait
for your replacement to arrive.

Likewise, my missus lost hers one Friday afternoon, rang up at 5:30PM
to report it lost, they offered her discount on new phone whilst she
was doing it as hadn't used her upgrade bonus, new phone and SIM
arrived at 09:00AM the next day(Saturday aswell). Never seen such good
service from a mobile operator to be honest.

I thought as much, can't for the life of me understand why, though. If
they can port numbers between networks then why not between SIM cards on
the same network..?

A SIM update message isn't a difficult thing, surely..?

If you called or sent them text messages, won't they be on your bill?
Pretty easy to download itemised PDFs from Virgin's site.
