I trialed Visio 2007 and then removed. It took items from my Office Pro 2003
including Picture Manager. I cannot repair or reinstall office. Receive
message: "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that...blah-blah".

Is this going to be a remove, re-install, patch,.......

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

You receive the "This patch package could not be opened" error message in an
Office program

Be certain to have your product number if you use the cleanup utility. If you do
not have it handy run the Belarc Advisor first

I ran the install clean script and rebooted. Same "This patch package could
not be opened" error message no matter whether I tried repair, control panel,
or disk.

The only change made in the last month was installing the Visio trial and
then removing it. No problems until then.

In this situation it is usually the installer that cause the errors. I don't
know what you mean when you say install clean script, do you mean the cleanup
utility? Did you check off Microsoft Office Professional 2003 in the Cleanup
menu?

2nd time was charm. Worked. And Pix Mgr is back after the re-install. I don't
know why my feeble brain did not think of the Install Cleanup. TBear
