Can someone help in giving me the steps on how to set an image to give it that watermark apeal for a broucher.

Usually all that is needed is to set the opacity down from 100% until
you get the results you want.

In the Filters menu > Adjust Color, the Hue/Saturation filter can be
handy as well.

if you're making a brochure (to be professionally printed) you need to
use a prog like freehand/photoshop (photoshop for the image
editing/manipultion and freehand to layout the brochure) or a page
layout app like quarkxpress or indesign and you need an image of
sufficient quality for print of that calibre - probably around the
1200-2400 ppi mark

you 'could' use fw but you can't output in cmyk so no good for print
work (remember it's a web app)
