From: Crash Lander on 2 Sep 2008 22:33 Hi guys, and girls. My girlfriend has an issue with her computer when we use skype to keep in touch when she is away. All is fine when only voice is used, but when we use the webcam, her system will simply switch off after a while, maybe 10 minutes, maybe 2 minutes. It doesn't happen when using webcam on Windows messenger, or anything else that uses the cam, only on Skype. I did a quick google, and it seems it's not an uncommon thing, but I've not been able to find a solution. Her system runs Windows Vista. I am unsure what her power supply specs are, and I have no doubt the tower is full of dust bunnies, which I will deal with in a few weeks when I get back up there. Anyone else had similar issues with Skype and a webcam? It doesn't happen if we use voice only. We could just use messenger etc, but the sound and video quality is far better with Skype. Have told her to get another webcam and see what happens.Getting her to check and update the cam drivers wold be like trying to do brain surgery over the phone. -- Crash Lander Some people say I suffer from A.D.D. but they.... From: Crash Lander on 7 Sep 2008 21:02 Tried a new webcam last night, and problem seems to be solved. The video feed is not as clear, or as smooth, but at least it doesn't reboot her system every 10 minutes.
