I have a script (.vbs) which I wish to run upon receiving certain
messages. What is the default directory path in which to place the
script so that I may invoke it with a rule?

You may want to check out the website "Outlookcode.com". There is a huge
amount of great references there. Hope that gives you a head start on your
project before one of the VBS Gurus gets to your question.
