right. where did you buy it, if online tell people the make/model so they
don't make the same mistake. you can at least turn your bad experience into
a positive one for the next person by helping them to avoid the same fate.
if the retailer gives you a hard time about returning it tell them that it
is not correctly labled as it is not backwards compatible with *all* machine
that accept pc2100 or pc2700 memory, in fact it is not even compatible with
all machines that take pc3200!

i understand you bought the memory on ebay. hopefully the buyer will take
it back when you make them aware of your efforts and this thread... it
might even help him/her avoid making the same grand promise of compaitibily
to other buyers...
you could buy your 2x1gb memory module from cricual for about $91, and that
is a safe bet, but you could also look at "pc3200 2gb kit" (two 1gb desktop
modules - careful not to select notebook type memory) for as little as $62
shipped. if you look in the user comments you will find some people
confirming that they work in dimension 3000 machine which are based on the
same chipset as your dimension 1100. however, newegg does charge a 15%
restocking fee and you loose postage if they are incompatible... but i doubt
that will happen with the $66 gskill kit from newegg. but unfortunately
these value ram manufactures can sometimes change the product without
notice. yet the savings vs crucial is significant...

'for as little as $63 shipped' should read 'for as little as $62 shipped
from newegg.com'
