Given the figures mentioned, then the problem is trivial. With unknown impedances, then any attempt at at design would be guesswork. My best guess would be, as has been mentioned, about 10x the rated output impedance of the tuner, set the level as required, then measure the resistances of the two parts of the pot, & make a fixed attenuator using the nearest preferred values. For domestic equipment, output impedance can be between a few dozen ohms & a few thousand ohms, with the input impedance ranging from a few hundred ohms to several thousand ohms. If all else fails, try one in the middle of the range & see what happens. -- Tciao for Now! John. ..

If you want a single, (blind) answer, I would go with 10K. That is my default value for consumer stuff. |
