Yes, I tried it. However, the recordings are distorted and it doesn't
export to the MP3 format.

It is writen:

Export MP3s with the optional LAME encoder library!

Did you install that library?

Agreed, it will do MP3 with the right libs.

However, your question was also posted to comp.os.linux.misc.
