Just wondering where all the regulars are going to when the access related
newsgroups shut down?

I have never used a Microsoft Forum, I guess I could switch to utteraccess?

I always found these newsgroups better and easier to use.

I'm already "back" in the USENET newsgroup comp.databases.ms-access; traffic
there is low, compared to even a year ago, but quite a numbr of my MVP
colleagues have indicated they'll be monitoring it.

I'm waiting for the Microsoft forums to "settle" and for Access to be
assigned its own category (not lumped in "Other" with other Microsoft
products, e.g., InfoPath) before I bother wasting my time "looking into that
option" because until that happens, I don't even have to try it to know that
it's unacceptable to me.

If your ISP does not have its own news server, you'll need to get one. On
good advice from colleagues, I signed up with "news.individual.net" run by
the Free University of Berlin... not free, but not expensive, either (10
euros per year). Several free news servers have also been recommended -- one
I remember is called "Eternal September".

FYI: I gave Eternal September a try and it seems to work fine (you just need
to register to get a userid/password).

However, the comp.databases.ms-access newsgroup doesn't seem to have much
activity.
I'm wondering if the normal everyday user will be accessing it?

Does that "newsgroup bridge" for the microsoft forums work? I never tried
any microsoft forums.
Hoping I can stick with a newsgroup reader?

Does utteraccess have any newsgroup reader access? haven't used that one
much either. I think I tried a few questions
and got a bunch of answers that don't really answer the question asked.

Before this thing goes down it would be great if we knew where the normal
group of access experts are going to.
I hate asking questions in some groups where I'm always smarter than the guy
answering the question.
This newsgroup has held up a high level of expertise, so I need to track
where all the smart guys are going
so I have a chance at getting some difficult questions answered! Quick
answers also help, otherwise I tend to go figure
it out myself.

Also I want to help answer a few questions when time permits.

Thanks,
Mark

As will all the microsoft.public.* newsgroups that are hosted on the
myriad web servers that are *not* owned by Microsoft.

I'm not going anywhere, and I'm not going to fiddle around with the
crappy Answers forum.
