From: superkrups20056 on 2 Jan 2006 22:39 Hello. I am thinking of getting Quicktime Pro 7 to use with my new Ipod video and have a couple questions. I already have a program that gets my DVD onto my hard drive (DVD Shrink). I was wondering if Quicktime Pro 7 will be able to export the DVD files as an MPEG 4 video (and eventually encode it with H.264 to save maximum space on my ipod). Or do I have to get another program to convert my dvd into an MPEG4 (such as Xilisoft or ImTOO) and export that to my Ipod. Will Quicktime automatically create mpeg4's containing H.264 video for every dvd I put on my ipod? Thanks in advance! I don't have a MAC, so I can't download Handbrake. :(

However, it would be really awkward, and would probably involve manually piecing together video and audio spread across multiple files, as QuickTime is not really designed to work conveniently with the sort of MPEG-2 program streams you'll find on a DVD. Actually, it's possible you won't be able to recover audio at all this way. You're much better off using a specialized program for this. -- "Those who enter the country illegally violate the law." -- George W. Bush in Tucson, Ariz., Nov. 28, 2005

From: superkrups20056 on 3 Jan 2006 16:45 OK, so I checked out all the software that does this, but I have a possibility that needs answered! Is there any program software that makes H.264 MPEGs from the DVD files?

OK forget that, one more question. If I give Quicktime Pro 7 a MPEG-4 File, will it automatically put it on my ipod with the H.264 technology? |
