• Is my PC running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows?

Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; WinXP 64-bit SP2;
Vista SP1; Vista 64-bit SP2; Win7; Win7 64-bit) when posting in a forum or
newsgroup. Please do so in your next reply.

Is this a sudden, new problem?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?

You hijack another conversation and provide the same level of detail about
your system and the actual updates involved as the original poster. Nice.
They do come in herds.

So - let's start with the basic questions and detailed instructions for you
to follow so you can answer those.

Operating System? Service Pack level? 32 or 64-bit? AntiVirus installed
(Name and Version, please)? Anything (like the names, KB######'s, etc) that
can tell us exactly what updates are being offered to you?

Start button --> RUN --> type in:
(No "RUN", press the WindowsKey+R at the same time.)
winver
--> Click OK.

That will give you (picture at top) the full name of the operating system.
That will give you (in the test) the Service Pack you have installed.

How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit
version of the Windows operating system

Come back, respond to your own conversation thread, my question
specifically - and give up some information to help others help you.
