From: Howard Huntley on 5 May 2008 21:05 Well, I am back into the sun systems after 3 - 4 years. My Sun blade just arrived that I purchased off Ebay. One of the things that is worrying me is that it arrived without the Sun badge on the front and there is no security card to plug into the slot. Where can I get these items? There is not a hard drive in the sys, What size or kind of hd should I get? Can I use my old Sun CRTs to run the sys dual headed? I need a #6 keyboard and mouse. I have the V10 O/S to install. Which Sun blade? there's several models, and they are vastly different. I'm going to assume a SunBlade 100 or 150, as the bigger models probably would all come with a hard drive, whereas, I could see these models not. I'd assume that whoever pryed off the sun logo for whatever reason. If you do have the 100 or 150, you can put in any pre Ultra-ATA drive to match the age of the controller built-in. Ie. 128GB max. Anything larger will be a waste, and potentially won't work right. (ie. I've seen some larger Ultra-ATA drives show only 12GB available or whatever). There normally is no security card in the slot, I'd say that hardly anybody used it at all. Unlike the servers, the SunBlades had built in NVRAM on the motherboard, not the identity card that could be swapped.. The output of the frame buffers for this line is expecting a normal PC SVGA monitor. If you had a multi-sync Sun monitor, it may work with the right adapter. A normal PC monitor probably will work better, the older fixed frequency monitors probably won't work.

It might help to know exactly what you have!! Blade 100, Blade 150, Blade 1500, Blade 2000, or something else entirely? Look at where you would connect a disk if you had one. Count the pins. If you count forty, it's EIDE and you can buy an 80 GB drive for $70 US or less. If you count fifty or sixty-eight you need a SCSI disk and it will probably cost you dearly! My bet would be on the EIDE. If I'm correct about the EIDE, 127 GB is the largest disk that you will be able to use. You can install a bigger disk but only the first 127 GB will be available. You can install and run Solaris with as little as 10 GB but 20 GB or more is HIGHLY recommended.

Judging from an earlier post of his, where he wanted to know the type number for a keyboard for a Blade 100-150, I assume this is a blade 100 or 150. They are machines I know nothing about, so I'll make no further comment.
