From: akm on 9 May 2008 19:40 Just started working with MSP 2007 (last time used Project was MSP 98) and am getting blue shaded cells after entering revisions to start dates etc. Seems like some sort of 'notification', but not sure. Ideas ? Also, could someone offer a good user manual type reference that might come at a reasonable price ? -- akm Thanks again for your help. ---- Ah, the miracle of computers!... someone also said "To error is human, but to really screw up it takes a computer!"
From: Dale Howard [MVP] on 9 May 2008 22:43 akm -- You are seeing a new feature in Microsoft Project 2007 called Change Highlighting. Project managers find this feature very useful when revising a plan to see the tasks whose schedule is impacted by the change. Specifically, in any task view, Change Highlighting will show you any task whose Duration, Start date, or Finish date is changed because of the revision you make. Regarding a book, you might want to consider purchasing our Ultimate Learning Guide at: http://www.projectserverbooks.com Hope this helps. -- Dale A. From: Dytham on 12 May 2008 06:49 I think it is worth noting that only the effects of the single most recent amendment are highlighted blue as changes. Something else I recently noticed: If a plan which contains cells highlighted blue is printed, then the blue highlights also show on the print - this is not usually what is desired. From: Dale Howard [MVP] on 12 May 2008 10:34 Dytham -- Good points. The Change Highlighting always shows the impact of the latest schedule change. When you save the project, Change Highlighting is removed. Hope this helps. -- Dale A.
