From: Chris (mudbubble) on 18 Sep 2005 22:36 waiting a couple weeks usually is not a fullproof way to troubleshoot - your best clue was the norton info - if norton considers the doanload installer as a virus - then there's yer problem - general rule of thumb is to shut off norton before installing any program. I used to use norton and got tired of the way it takes over the OS and slows it down. I uninstalled it completely. --> www.mudbubble.com - www.keyframer.com - Team Macromedia <-- --> http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/flash/3d_animation.html <-- --> http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?hl=en&as_ugroup=*flash* <-- --> mudbubble mailing list: stserv(a)mudbubble.com with "subscribe news(a)mudbubble.com" in body <-- yker30 wrote: > Unfortunately not. I can?t install Flash 8 and I have not idea about what is happening. I think that I will wait a couple of weeks to see if it works.
From: lloydhuang on 23 Sep 2005 13:30 these might not be helpful, but i did installed successfully, just to share with u guys: i tried to install flash 8 trial version months ago,but failed, the process bar just stuck there and have no any error report, i waited for an hour, it just stuck until i killed the process. last week i installed an full version and this time it reports something like: u need a new version of windows installer. then i click yes, it started to download the "windows-installer". when finished download, it says something like:u need windows sp3 to install this new version of windows-installer. so i installed windows sp4, and then installed the new "windows-installer". after these 2 steps, flash 8 is successfully installed . but then it says u need to reboot the machine. after i rebooted and run flash 8, and error came out saying that the program cant find the flashresource.dll file. i searched the folder and found it already there. but flash keep saying that it cant find the file, dont know whats happening. then i uninstalled flash 8 and reinstalled ( i selected "cover the uncompressed file in the temp folder"), and this time everything goes ok, flash 8 runs properly and it runs not slow. my machine: win2k+sp4+512M+Norton always on

And if there are some for OS X; 5, 10, 50 viruses out there. This doesn't come close to the tens of thousands viruses for windows. Buy a mac and your be happier :) -- David Brewer
From: Chris (mudbubble) on 23 Sep 2005 16:09 hey dave - i actually have very little problem with viruses and worms, trijans on any of my 4 PCs - i have cable modem and online all the time - i have a firewall and visit respected sites. I think the virus issue is more or less a huge scare that generates more sales for anti-virus companies than anything else. I even wonder if it's the anti-virus companies deploying the actual viruses. Macromedia is sending me a new CD and it was easy getting them to do it, though slightly time consuming as I spent some time on hold. (Not a long time on hold, which suggests that either the problem is rare or else they have sold few copies of the software). I was really quite impressed with the service -- I will be more impressed if the new CD comes and works of course -- because I got cut off when they tried to transfer me to the last person, who was supposed to arrange to mail me the CD after the tech guy approved it. I was really pissed, dreading calling again and waiting on hold and repeating everything, but before I could even start to get mad, the customer service guy called me right back on the phone and apologized and finished the arrangements. And I had not even given them a phone number on the phone, but they had it on file with my order.... Millie |
