I can't send Word attachments to my wife's Macintosh (Panther). Problem began
about one week ago. No problem before that. She receives the Word attachement
as a windat attachment.
I'm using Windows XP.
Also, another PC user told me this week he got a windat attachment (that
should have been Word).

Stop sending in Rich-Text Format (RTF). Use HTML or plain-text format.

Read http://support.microsoft.com/?id=290809.

RTF should *only* be using within the same Outlook organization where
you can guarantee that all senders and recipients are using Outlook.
That is Microsoft's recommendation for using their proprietary format.
It also applies if you are only within the same Exchange organization.
If you send outside through SMTP then the RTF-formatted e-mail can get
mangled during transport by relays or mail servers.
