From: agentpolo083 on 11 Oct 2005 18:40 I for some reason cannot renew my IP address. I have had my comcast internet for over a year and for some reason I can't connect to the internet anymore. I know that it is not a problem with my ethernet card becuase I just finished installing a new one and I still get the same error. I also know that it is not a problem with my ISP becuase I'm currently using a friend's laptop using the same internet connection. Everytime i try to repaid the connection, I get an error message saying that It can't renew my IP address. I already tried unplugging my modem, and shutting down my computer for over a minute. When I plug my modem back in and turn on my computer I still get the same problem. Any suggestions? -- -agentpolo083
From: Jack (MVP) on 11 Oct 2005 19:13 Hi In General you can debug the Network Setting of the computer following these steps. Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer's Device Manager. Make sure that the drivers are installed correctly; there is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation. http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost Step Two Verify Basic network setting in the OS: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify If the above two Steps indicates that every thing looks good but functionally it does not work. Step Three. Check (and repair if necessary) the Socket Layers, Winsock, and or refresh the TCP/IP Stack. http://www.ezlan.net/clean#refreshnet If need to Reinstall; Log to this page it have a lot of links to instructions for Windows Network Installation - http://www.ezlan.net/Installing.html Jack (MVP-Networking).
