It's not a rare problem. Just because your cards don't have an issue doen't mean it doesn't exist. Any digging will show you it's a real and widespread issue. I suggest you Google "catalyst 8.4 hotfix" (or 8.3 hotfix, or, well, you get it) .The hotfixes have rarely worked for many of the AGP cards that the problem occurs in. Every hotfix up to 8.3 failed to fix DX functionality on my X1650 Pro. That's when I gave up and sold the card. And as for it being "great" that they invest the man hours, consider that ATI/AMD and their partners are currently making and selling AGP cards which don't work with the last 8 or 9 driver releases. So no, it's not "great" that they are doing it. It would be different if these drivers didn't just work in long out of production but still serviceable legacy cards. It's inexcusable for the ONLY current drivers to not work on currentlymade and marketed cards. This issue only arose after the 7.5's for many of the AGP cards. Until this time there was no issue with this problem. And until then, I and many others didn't have an issue either.

The good news is that the Hotfix driver for AGP cards works very nicely, no issues at all, but what's really annoying is the need to search out and install the hotfix in the first place. IMO ATI should offer it as a driver for AGP cards on their driver download page rather than have it hidden away under the Knowledgebase.

No game problems, can play stalker for example for as long as I want. All Directx tests pass no problems. I'm running an AGP 1950pro.. Cheers Dre
