From: davidzilla27 on 4 Feb 2005 18:37 Your best bet is to give your computer better circulation. Don't surround it with books or CD cases. Also, you could try elevating it by putting the computer on a couple of jewel cases or one of those expensive laptop stands.

Do you know that your laptop is even designed to run with an Athlon 1600? It may not be able to cool a chip running that hot. Your best bet is to find a service manual for the computer to see if there's a way to lower the voltage. Any upgraded BIOS would probably be on the manufacturer's website, if it is even possible to lower the voltage. Sometimes a jumper on the motherboard can do it. A. Fixed Problems add amd model 10 cpu support remove duron cpu support critical shutdown point in 105'C VGA ROM change what does it means? that if the new cpu is still overheating i can't use anymore my original duron cpu? this will drive me to a dead laptop. :( what sould i do? try the bios upgrade? arghhhh.....

If AMD model 10 are the 1.45V, then that's what u need to do. You HAVE to lower your voltage to 1.45V else u can't use that baby. Do any of the AMD 1.55V series support higher clock rates?
