From: hexHead on 22 Jan 2008 12:24 running an AIW 2006 PCI-E on Windows XP SP2 Grrrr Is there any combination of Catalyst and MMC drivers that actually work? I've uninstalled and reinstalled so many times I could puke... (ran the AtiCimUn.exe uninstaller, ran Driver Cleaner Pro, and even did the ol' hunt-n-peck through the registry to make sure all traces of ATI-whatever were gone. rebooted ad nauseum) Specifically, everytime I try and use the TV tuner, I get the same "Unable to initialize" error - which is no help at all... I've tried god-knows-how-many combinations going back to Catalyst 5.4 & MMC 9.03 - no luck For whatever reason, I cant seem to get rid of the ATI T200 Unified AVStream Driver and revert back to the old WDM's - how is that accomplished?? Is that the problem?

Is that the problem? Possibly. The T200 driver rendered my AIW useless. However, mine is 9600XT AGP so I don't know how much of my experience is applicable to your situation. I use Catalyst 6.2 with MMC 9.06 (I also had good luck with 9.08 but decided to go with this one after my latest reinstall.) I have the WDMs apearing in my Device Manager, with (thankfully) no sign of the T200. The T200 starts showing up with Cat 6.3. I don't know why you're seeing it with drivers as old as 5.4. Before uninstalling all the ATI software you should boot in safe mode and remove all ATI-related devices fron Device Manager. Also make sure you have no "ghost" devices (for which the drivers are installed but do not show up because Windows think's they're not connected). See the MS article on how to do this : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539 Good luck.
From: First of One on 22 Jan 2008 19:42 According to this Driverheaven forum thread, apparently you need to install the AVIVO suite for the TV tuner to work (don't ask me why). http://www.driverheaven.net/all-wonder-tv-video-capture/107138-mmc-9-14-released-last-discuss-vote-here-3.html The AVIVO suite can be downloaded here: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/radeonxavivo-xp Note you need Catalyst 8.1 to use the above download. So install Catalyst 8.1 and MMC 9.16. FYI. T200 Unified AVStream Driver *is* the WDM driver. T200 = Theater 200, which is the VIVO chip mounted on the AIW 2006 PCIe. The "unified" moniker denotes a merger of previous components like WDM Rage Theater Audio, WDM Rage Theater Video, WDM TV Audio Crossbar, etc. You will see a single T200 entry in Device Manager in place of 5-6 WDM entries. Click on the release notes for the WDM driver for more details: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/aiwradeonxip-xp -- "War is the continuation of politics by other means. It can therefore be said that politics is war without bloodshed while war is politics with bloodshed."
