The system wants you to choose a user name and password for YOURSELF. Do so and keep on truckin'. Well, after reflection, MSXP, MSDOS, or whatever, might be a better bet for you.

Maybe MSDOS, but I'm pretty sure by the time you get to XP it asks the same questions during the install.

I was never asked to create a password during the instal, apart from the root one that is. I have been involved with PC's since Dos 6.22 right up to XP So installing software is not new to me (I am 57 so no new kid on the block thank you), Just fancied giving Linux a go again, did try Suse1 .Years ago but did not like it , I will try once more later, maybe I was not entering enough letters or something, but knowing the rules would help Later -- M Wright

I can't say with certainty that I've installed XP but I've done W2K Professional quite a few times and I believe it asks for a user account or at least gives you the opportunity to create one. The Fedora 8 install may reject overly simple passwords and usernames with spaces, etc.
