From: David Pedersen on 14 May 2008 11:46 I know that you can put hyperlinks in your project files that point to external documents. Is there anyway to simply attach or embed files to tasks so the icon appears in the information cell? The "insert object" method embeds the object in the graphical part of the gantt chart, which seems weird. Am I just missing something? David
From: JulieS on 14 May 2008 14:19 Hi David, You can insert an object through the Notes tab on the task information dialog box. The note indicator will appear even if you don't type text. I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along. From: dlmckirdy on 14 May 2008 14:26 Hi David, To get the hyperlink to show up in the Information cell, follow the instructions below: 1. With the task selected, click Insert Hyperlink on the Standard Toolbar. 2. In the Text to Display box, type a descriptive name for the document to which you are linking. 3. Find and select the document you want to link to your project file. 4. Click OK. The Hyperlink Indicator appears in the Indicators field of the Gantt Chart. Now, whenever you need to review the document, just click the Hyperlink indicator. The document opens in its own application window. This description was taken from "Microsoft Office Project 2007 - Inside Out", Teresa S. Stover, Microsoft Press, 2007, ISBN-13: 978-0-7356-2327-9. Chapter 3 describes the many ways to attach information to MS Project files, including inserting file contents into the Notes field of the Task Information dialogue box.
