From: Alex H on 18 Jan 2008 06:46 Hi I have taken over some responsibilites and i have been left a load of files with an extension A5R. I am assuming that they are Authorware files of some sort - can anyone tell me exactly, and can they be imported or converted to other formats such as Captivate or Flash? Thanks A
From: Dave C on 18 Jan 2008 10:12 a5r files are package authorware files. They do not include the authorware runtime, so they are not executable by themselves. They can be opened an executed with the authorware runtime executable. You can also call them from other author files. I don't believe Flash or Captivate can import them, nor can they be automatically converted into another format. They can not be edited. Only the original source file (with the a5p extension) can be edited. Those are the files that you will want to get a hold of. At least then you could easily get most of the text and images or other media in order to recreate the content using Flash or Captivate.
