From: mike flugennock on 26 Sep 2006 21:14 Silly-assed because I should be able to figure this out by searching apple.com, but no, they've made it damn' near impossible to actually find an answer to a question as simple as: What version of USB is in a 1.25ghz dual-processor "mirrored" G4? I suppose I ought to find that out before I start springing for USB-driven tv receivers. The Miglia TVMini, iirc, wants to see USB 2.0 or EyeTV (software shipping with the TVMini) won't run. -- .. So buy a PCI USB 2 card. Cheap and good, I use a Belkin. -- dorayme

It's also silly-assed posting a hardware question to an applications group, but its USB 1.1. -- <http://designsbymike.biz/macconsultshop.shtml> Mac-themed T-shirts <http://designsbymike.biz/musings.shtml> Mostly muckraking T-shirts <http://designsbymike.biz/prius.shtml> Prius shirts & bumper stickers <http://cafepress.com/comedancing> Ballroom dance-themed shirts & gift

Are you sure about that? MacTracker says the FW800 G4 model has 12 Mbps USB ports, and USB 2.0 (480 Mbps) was introduced with the PowerMac G5. Apple's developer notes for these models agree: http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/Developer_Notes/Macint osh_CPUs-G4/PowerMacG4/index.html http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/Developer_Notes/Macint osh_CPUs-G5/PowerMacG5_Aug03/index.html Assuming this info is correct, then the built-in USB ports on all PowerMac G4 models are limited to 12 Mbps USB 1.1, while all PowerMac G5 models support 480 Mbps USB 2.0.
