From: bob on 27 Aug 2006 19:19 I unscrewed the top 6 screws of my HD with a Torx T9 from Sears. However, the top still won't come off. Any ideas? Thanks.

Likely just the seal holding it on. Use a flat bladed screwdriver in that join, since you dont plan to use the drive again.
From: Breck Fontaine on 27 Aug 2006 19:43 I believe there are a couple more screws under the hard drive lable. Then on the side of the hard drive there should be slot. Stick a regular head screwdriver in and give it a tap and that should push the top of the drive loose. I could be wrong but that is what I found taking drives apart. Also the seal strip on them is quite sticky, so use a bit of violence.

Is there any type of label on the drive assembly? I found that with some equipment, they put their label over a screw. It could also be that the seals are very tight, and the cover may need a little more force using a screwdriver. I like collecting the magnets that I find in the old drives. That is the main reason that I like to take them apart. -- JANA _____ <bob(a)coolgroups.com> wrote in message news:1156720752.440512.272960(a)i42g2000cwa.googlegroups.com...
