From: Mr Ter on 9 Feb 2006 15:50 My wife has iMac G4 (Tiger) with Airport wireless card. The iMAc used to connect to Netgear wireless access point which recently has been swapped for Linksys wireless DSL router. The problem is that the iMac never remembers which network to connect to. I selected option "use last connected network" in the network setting but each time she logs in she has to manually select the connect network. My windows and Suse PC and laptop has no problem and always connects to the correct network. I have s slightly different problem when using linksys wireless router. For security reason I set the router not to broadcast network SSID. After that the network does not appear in the list of availabe networks. Each time I want to connect to the network I have to manually enter the networks details plus the WEP passphrase. Am I missing something ? IS there a workaround ? Thanks - Tom

In the airport panel of the network preference, put the name of the network in 'by default join a specific network' and the password. Works fine with my SSID non broadcasting linksys(s) PS: sorry this isn't a reply to your post, but it seems that I can't reply to your post as if I do, it inserts your mailto address in the message, and then my news client complains it cant find the smtp server of the ISP I left a few years ago (obviously). Even if I delete the email address it still tries looking for it and cant post, and I am not prepared to let it know a real SMTP address! -- Woody Alienrat Design Ltd

I've modified it now. Tom

I know leaving this iBook on auto it 'just works' switching back between home, office and various other locations. -- Jon B Above email address IS valid. <http://www.bramley-computers.co.uk/> Apple Laptop Repairs.

Not on mine they didn't - that machine (and this maching thinking about it) were upgraded through every point and I haven't put the network address in for a long time. > I know leaving this iBook on auto it 'just works' switching back between > home, office and various other locations. So does this between here and the office. -- Woody www.alienrat.com |
