Compare the > situation in France. No one forces you to sign with O2 unless you want a _locked_ iphone, carphonewhorehouse sell them as do Apple; the contract gets signed later if you want to. Otherwise you either have an ipod touch at almost half the price which will [if unlocked] accept your existing sim card.
