I am a new ipod user....I uploaded Kanye West's CD's into itunes and
onto my ipod. When I go under the artist tab in the menu of my ipod,
it is showing Kanye West twice and has the majority of the songs under
one of the entries and some random songs under the other entry. I'm
not sure why it is doing this. It is also doing it on 50 Cent's
CD's and Eminem's Curtain Call CD. I'm thinking that it could be
because I edited the artist information in itunes (when it said Kanye
featuring Jay-Z, I deleted the featuring Jay-Z portion). Have you seen

this before? Any thoughts?

Check carefully the artist names in iTunes, and ensure that there isn't
a space at the end of the artist's name on any of the tracks. If there
is, it'll be considered a "different" artist, and be indexed
separately. I've run into this occasionally with the automatic track
naming provided by the CDDB. It's easy enough to fix, but it had me
stumped for a while.

Does that help?

As long as the text for "Artist" is *identical*, they'll show up
together. (So removing that portion should have let it match up with
the other songs.)

As I said, check for extra spaces. Or, if you want, you can highlight
all the songs that you want to have the same property (like "Artist"),
go under the File menu to "Get Info..." and set the item you want. It
will apply it to all the songs you've selected, and should resolve this
problem.
