From: Ian Cargill on 27 Sep 2005 11:40 Just struggling with my new mini iPod (won in the Walker's Crisp promotion. Yes, it is possible to win one!!) and would appreciate some advice. The iPod holds 4GB, hopelessly less than my iTunes collection. I accepted its kind offer to make a selection to fill up the iPod. However, once this was done it seems to refuse to accept any variation in the Preferences window (where you can specify particular playlists to download to the iPod). To be more precise, it gives the message: 'The iPod... cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the selected playlists.' What I suppose I really want is for the playlists I select to take preference over the iPod's own chosen selection. Maybe I'm just missing something obvious but can anyone offer some advice. Thanks Ian

I've done this and set it up to sync some smart playlists with actively changing and some manually fixed ones. The smart playlists are limited by gb so that they don't overfill into the space taken by the fixed playlists. HTH -- Jon B real email to usenet at jonbradbury dot com
