From: Dasco on 23 Apr 2008 06:30 I have iTunes on the Mac partition on my iMac and would like to copy the music from that partition to the Windows partition (using iTunes). My question is: How can I copy / transfer the music from one to the other? Thanks - Dave

My > question is: How can I copy / transfer the music from one to the other? Is the Windows partition FAT or NTFS? If it's FAT, you can just drag the iTunes folder to My Documents\My Music\iTunes. If it's NTFS, Mac OS X will not allow you to write to the Windows volume. Instead, you'll need to use some other method to move the music to the My Documents\My Music\iTunes directory. -- Please send all responses to the relevant news group. My >question is: How can I copy / transfer the music from one to the other? You can treat it as separate computer. In my case, I installed iTunes, copied a CD, and then saw where to copy all of my iTunes files. I used Sneakernet, but other alternatives work - including copying to an .mac account (using iDisk utility for Windows) or some other network tool. Or you can add Parallels to access a HPFS Windows partition from within OS-X. It comes with tools that enable you to copy files between the two.

The solution I found that worked for me was to backup my music to DVD on the iMac and then load Windows - iTunes and restore. FWIW all of my music is sorted into playlists and even these were copied over. Once again thanks!

This gives you access to Mac formatted disc partition so should enable you to work with one iTunes folder avoiding duplication. -- Adrian |
