From: vista2 via WindowsKB.com on 3 May 2008 22:16 When I try to connect to my dial-up connection, it dials like normal. However, when I go to Internet explorer, it says the page cannot be displayed. My email can't be accessed either. This is a computer that hasn't been hooked up to internet before this. Any help will be appreciated. P.S. I have tried other modems. -- Message posted via WindowsKB.com http://www.windowskb.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx/windows-xp-network/200805/1

From: SteveL on 4 May 2008 21:24 Check your firewall to see if it is allowing the programs to access the internet. Try the following and report the results ping www.google.com ping 4.2.2.1 If you can ping by numbers but not by name, this is indicative of a dns problem. It's also possible your winsock is screwed. You might try running LSPfix to check this out and correct it if it finds a problem. http://cexx.org/lspfix.htm Jim.
