I was looking at mice in the store today and notice an ms mouse that was
taller than the rest. Just trying the displayed one briefly, it seemed more
comfortable. Has anyone tried it? How is the comfort long term? Also, how is
the tracking? I once said I would never use another wireless but it seems
like this one only comes as wireless, and also it seems like wired
mice are going extinct.

I have used one for 2 1/2 years and love it. The tracking is excellent. And
Duracell "A" batteries used in it last about a year of daily use.

Comfort has to do with your natural mousing motions, the
height of the counter it was tried on, the size of your
hand, etc. It's not universally comfortable or
uncomfortable, though in general these larger mice are less
comfortable because they force your hand into a specific
position to use them, while with a smaller mouse you can
adjust hand position periodically without it interfering
with manipulating the mouse much, though if the shape were
right for you and it trained you to use a good position that
might still be helpful.

Tracking is probably great as it is with most laser mice.

No it doesn't seem like wired mice are going extinct. They
just promote higher margin products more, and many buy OEM
systems that come with a wired mouse so in an effort to try
to entice a purchase, wireless is one obvious feature a
lower cost OEM mouse would lack.

If you need wireless, modern wireless mice are much better
than they used to be, but a very perceptive user and/or
demanding use may make you realize there is still a minor
big of lag with wireless mice. It quite overshadows the
increased precision of it being laser, though still better
laser than not.

Ultimately on such an oddly shaped mouse you will either
love it or hate it... and it seems you love it so you might
as well give it a try... not like it's a marriage or
anything, you can chuck it in a drawer if things don't work
out, saving it as a backup mouse or of course there's always
ebay to resell.

50 cents at Salvation Army, etc. Keyboards are more expensive, $2.
