how do you click and drag a data point in an excel chart?

Click, then Drag
[But firstly, make sure that your version of Excel is not 2007.]

From: Jon Peltier on
It takes two single clicks to select the point (the first selects the whole
series). When a single point has been selected, and you mouse over it, the
cursor changes to a two- or four-headed arrow. Dragging in this state
changes the underlying data for the point.
