From: Chris on 20 Jun 2005 18:56 Hi All, Does anycone know how I can get new versions of microsoft project to save a file in mpx format. I have an existing application that reads mpx files and wondered if there was a way I could convert mpp to mpx. Chris
From: "Rod Gill" <rod AT project-systems DOT co DOT on 21 Jun 2005 05:04 2003 doesn't save as .mpx any longer. Basically the mpx format has never been updated to handle things like different amounts of work per day or week and much more. As such saving as .mpx format would lose a fair bit of data and accuracy. The replacement for .mpx format is the new .xml format which is also a text format. It saves all project data with no loss of information. If you still need to save as .mpx then keep an older version of Project installed such as 2000 just for this purpose, or write a VBA macro to create a .mpx file in 2003. -- Rod Gill Project MVP Visit www.msproject-systems.com for Project Companion Tools and more "Chris" <chrispow88NO_SPAM(a)hotmail.com> wrote in message news:d97hbq$43e$1(a)nnrp.waia.asn.au... > Hi All, > > Does anycone know how I can get new versions of microsoft project to save > a > file in mpx format. > > I have an existing application that reads mpx files and wondered if there > was a way I could convert mpp to mpx. > > > Chris > >
