Anyone tried it? How does it compare to Ubuntu in ease of use a
compatability, plus does it have as a huge repos as Ubuntu?

For opensuse fans it is better than ubuntu, has better compatability, and
also has many repos.
Of course, for ubuntu fans, opensuse is worse than ubuntu.

The above is not very helful but I've been using suse and its successors
since version 5.3 and I'm happy. I tried ubunto last year and it
installed fine but I didn't like it. At the time I could only install 32
bit as the graphics chip was not supported in 64 bit by ubuntu. This will
now have changed.

Using it now. There is not a vast difference between recent Ubuntu and
OpenSUSE releases - best try them both and see which you prefer. Things
I like about OpenSUSE are:

YAST - nice system configuration tool with GTK+ and console interface.

x86_64 installation has RealPlayer and Flash plugins working out of
the box.

Easy installation and configuration of proprietary NVIDIA drivers.

Nice artwork - I hate Ubuntu Brown.

Excellent GNOME desktop developed by the former Ximian team.

Biggest gripe about OpenSUSE is the software installation and update
tools - they have been clumsy and bug ridden for a few releases now. I
much prefer the tools provided by Debian/Ubuntu.

I think I would probably be using Debian (and may switch back one day)
if I didn't wish to keep more up-to-date with GNOME.

I've used 10.2 to host Algosec, simple to install, easy to update.

Not the worst distro I've had the pleasure of.

I've used the OpenSuSE 10.3 LiveCD on my laptop [Dell Inspiron 2200] and an
H-P 6820s, and it did a better job of detecting and using the hardware than
Knoppix 5.1.1 did. In fact, it did a better job than Windows XP on the H-P
laptop.
