I wonder if this would be better directed to users(a)openoffice. That sounds very odd behaviour. First, try 'paste special' and see if explicitly pasting as unformatted text makes a difference. Otherwise, absent other ideas, try moving your private OOo config area to one side and then starting OOo. I've used it 3 or 4 times and it always seems to place the text where its supposed to be. Problem apparently solved. Thanks for your help.
