How would I create a slide show that will break the picture up into small
squares when clicked and reassemble with the next picture in a series? I'm
guessing the only way to do it is to cut the picture up into the number of
squares and turn each square into a movie clip and place each one on a
different layer and animate them that way. That is totally involved and more
headache than I care to imagine. Please tell me there is a simplier way to do
this.

I'd like to recommend a shareware - Wondershare Flash SlideShow
Builder, which includes more than 200 picture transition effects.
That's worth to have a try!
Enjoy!
