I would like am getting an answer to this question....
What do you use for a feeder cable to power your rig?
1) A single power cable bundled together...
2) single cables.....
3) ??????

Here is why????
My brother has a youth ministry and has a pa, lighting and video system...
And after a gig in las Vegas Nevada decided he needs power distro because
they had a 100 amp disconnect that we could have used and needed........

I heard that what is commonly called pin are illegal according to electric
code any truth to that?

if this is your first power distro I doubt you need single conductors
as most people who draw large enough current to need the large single
conductors are quite experianced in what to use
I would look for "entertainment cable" 6/4 sow
just punch "entertainment cable" into your browser

i know electrical but i am looking to see what other people use
My Brother is looking at 200 amps 3 phase\
I know that 200 amp need 4/0 and the weight for 100 feet for separate wire
is aprox 600 lbs

Then you would also know there is no cable that carries 200 amp 3 phase
in a single jacket
so why the question if you already know how to suppy a power distro?
do you think there is some magic "sound guy only" ac feeder that floats
itsself out to the service entrance?
I carry 5x 350 feet of 2/0 single conductors for my largest systems
this is sound only, I hire lighting for shows that use this system and
they carry thier own feeder
smaller shows I supply on 4/4 or 6/5 depending on if I have 3 phase power
available
club shows are easily feed off 10/4

If you're referring to "Cam-Lok," they par for the course for larger
distros, and the disconnects can be found at just about any major venue
in N. America. Typical services using Cam-Lok are 100 amp 3 phase up to
400 amp 3 phase in arenas, stadiums and large halls. As far as the NEC
goes, the feeders for these distros are not supposed to be tied or
taped together, but I have yet to see an inspector complain as most
live sound and lighting companies usually wrap the feeder with e-tape
or something at intervals just to keep it from getting tangled in the
trunk.

For my personal rig, all I need is 6/4 SO cable for 50 amp single
phase. I'm using Hubbell Insulgrip twist-locks into the distro and for
the tails into the service panel.
