i have a dell a-940 printer, when i use the scanner my pages come out okay.
when i use office word and print in black the first 2 paragraphs print okay
but after that it starts fading. Ive have tried the same doc in word perfect
same results. If i change the fonts to a colored font all prints out okay.
Of course Dell says its not the printer Its the Software. so any help will be
appreicated

If it does the same in two apps (word and word perfect) it's either the
printer driver (supplied by Dell) or the printer (also supplied by Dell),
send it back and get an Epson.

It certainly isn't the software. Does Dell have updated drivers? I don't own a Dell
so I did not register with the web site.
This is the most current driver information:

Have you thought about re-installing your printer driver?
Is your black cartridge okay? Have you checked to see if it is clogged? What happens
when you print directly from the scanner?

May well be the software - Dell software ie the driver
Probably the Dell has an option to print test pages

Have you tried replacing the black ink cartridge?
