I have just set up a website using a three column template provided by
dreamweaver. It works fine in firefox and my version of IE but many others
using IE are having trouble - the columns overlap and pictures are too big.
the site is www.theibta.org/Test/ibta.html
any suggestions very welcome

This looks like a combination of DWCS3 and MS Word:

<p class="MsoNormal"><em><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana;
font-style: normal;"><img src="Devon1.jpg" alt="devon" width="197"
height="92" align="left" /><span class="style11">The IBTA Secretary, Kathy
Oliver (left of photo),&nbsp;attended the Hammer Out Patient/Carer
conference near
<st1:city w:st="on">Exeter</st1:city>

,
<st1:place w:st="on">Devon,</st1:place>
on 8th and 9th March, 2008 where she gave a presentation on
&quot;Hope for the Future and Promising Areas of Research&quot;.&nbsp;<span
class="NewsSummaryMorelink style10">[<a
href="current_news/hammer_out.html">more...</a>] </span>
<o:p></o:p>

If so, I'd guess it will be difficult to sort out. Try and validate the page
http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.theibta.org%2FTest%2Fibta.html
