what is special about it?

I know nothing of Marvell RAID controllers. (The third-party ones that I am
aware of are from Promise or Silicon Image.) Marvell seems to be common in
onboard Ethernet controllers, though.

stick with known hardware. intel, nvidia, silicon image and such. drivers
are often updated along with bios too. you might get lucky, then
again........
