From: Phillip on 12 Feb 2006 19:36 I was playing around with the demo of Real Guitar 1.5. I was trying to determine if it was worth the price since I suck at playing guitar. I really like how you can play just about any chord through the keyboard, but my only complaint is that it doesn't sound like you can distinguish very well between up strums and down strums. Maybe I'm just not using it right, or maybe the demo is too limited to where you can't tweak features, but this is my only disappointment on it so far. Anyone use this program and have any comments about my findings? Thanks. ~ phil -- Phillip S. ~Pilot, Aircraft Dispatcher, and Audio Newbie Extraordinaire!
From: Rick Paul on 13 Feb 2006 01:20 I don't have it, but I understand RealGuitar 2 was recently released (not sure if you can buy it yet, though). I think there was a video demo somewhere that showed it in action, with many of its techniques. Don't recall if it was on the MusicLab site or from a tradeshow demo, but you might see if you can find that and maybe that will answer the question. I do remember being pretty impressed by the video demo, but not being so impressed by stuff I'd seen from earlier versions of RealGuitar (not sure if it was 1.5 or earlier, though). Hello Phil, yes you can use the keyboard to switch for upstrums and downstrums. The repeat keys for full and mutted sound (would be the black keys)are keys right C5-C6 and the left Repeat Key zone is C1-D#1. I use Real Guitar in solo mode so I can't tell you how well this works. I copied this text from the manual. Hope the information helps. "In this mode the RealGuitar detects the chord played in the Main zone of the keyboard (the rootnote and the name of the chord appear on the black info screen), then the program builds guitar version of the chord considering the selected Chord position and current position of a 'Capo' stripon the Fretboard, and finally plays it using down strum technique.Any key of Repeat zone repeats the whole chord played in the Main zone: black keys play muted strums, while white keys play strums when the chord is still held and muted strums when the keysin the Main zone are released. Up and down strums are triggered by neighboring keys for both white and black keys of the Repeat zones, like C1 - up strum, D1 - down strum, C6 - down strum, B5 - up strum and so on)." Real Guitar has some great sounding acoustic guitars. It's the best, most realisitc softsynth accoustic guitar I've heard, but there are probably some others that are good too. FYI I believe that Musiclab has phased out version 1.5 and that there is now a Version 2 that has alot of new features such as pattern playing and optional pattern libraries, so you might whant to check out their website for the new features. Not sure how the new pattern playing feature works in Sonar 5 considering the fact that Musiclab's Rythm'nChords doesn't work at all in it- R'nC does work in earlier versions of Sonar. They are working on an update for Sonar 5 users. -- MICHAEL FANNING, composer, arranger, producer http://www.soundclick.com/michaelfanning "Phillip" <p(a)woh.com> wrote in message news:5wQHf.29581$F_3.11916(a)newssvr29.news.prodigy.net... >I was playing around with the demo of Real Guitar 1.5.
